Ryuya Suzuki was born in 1994 in Miyagi Prefecture. After graduating from university, he aspired to become a live-action director, but drifted away and became a hired manager at an oyster bar in Kabukicho. His self-taught animated short films won numerous awards at independent film festivals in Japan, and “Tatsuya Suzuki: Three Men” will be released in theaters in 2022. He raised funds for the production of “Mumyo no Jinsei” (An Unnamed Life) through a fundraising campaign, and spent a year and a half at his parents’ house in Sendai, Japan, working entirely on the film by himself.
