SYNOPSIS
このミュージック・ビデオは、Unicodeという文字コードへの個人的関心から生まれた作品である。世界各地の文字を網羅するUnicodeは、40年にわたり、様々な地域や民族間の対話の積み重ねにより策定が進められてきた。ここ数年、私は仕様書を読み耽り、こうした標準化に奔走した人々へ思いを馳せてきた。
本作の楽曲は、MONO NO AWAREによる早口言葉の歌を、group_inouのimaiがリミックスしたものである。制作にあたり、文字符号化の歴史を調査し、機械学習技術などを活用し、専用の制作ソフトウェアを開発。形や意味の似通った文字を一つひとつ拾い集め、コマ撮りアニメーションとして構成した。
This music video emerged from my personal interest inthe Unicode character encoding standard. Unicode, which encompasses scripts from around the world, has been developed over 40 years through ongoing dialogue among diverse regions and cultures. In recent years, I have been reading its specifications in depth, reflecting on those who dedicated themselves to this standardization effort.
The track used in this work is a Japanese tongue-twister song by MONO NO AWARE, remixed by imai of group_inou. For its creation, I researched the history of character encoding, utilized machine learning techniques, and developed dedicated production software. I then meticulously collected characters with similar shapes or meanings and composed them into a stop-motion animation.

Baku Hashimoto is a film director and animation artist who works independently across a wide range of mediums—from generative art and motion graphics to stop-motion animation and interactive design. Influenced by experimental film and hacker culture, he explores new ways of creating through both visual experimentation and technical innovation. By continually researching tool development and diverse modes of expression, he pursues a variety of styles within the visual arts.
