シンエイ動画在籍時は国民的アニメシリーズ『ドラえもん』で手腕を発揮し、フリーランス転向後も、『宇宙兄弟』や『恋は雨上がりのように』など、数々の話題作を世に送りだしてきた渡辺歩。2019年には、STUDIO4℃制作のもと五十嵐大介の同名マンガを映像化した長編アニメーション『海獣の子供』が劇場公開。同作は、その圧巻の映像美によって国内外数々の映画祭で受賞しました。そして、STUDIO4℃と再びタッグを組んで西加奈子による同名小説の映像化に挑んだ長編アニメーション『漁港の肉子ちゃん』は、『海獣の子供』に続き世界中の映画祭で脚光を浴び、渡辺監督は世界的なアニメーション監督として不動の地位を確立しました。本トークプログラムでは、渡辺監督ご自身に、『漁港の肉子ちゃん』にいたるまでのキャリアを振り返っていただきます。

渡辺 歩（ WATANABE Ayumu ）
1966年9月3日生まれ。東京都出身。86年にスタジオメイツに入社、同社で原画デビュー。 88年にシンエイ動画へ移り、TVアニメ『ドラえもん』で原画・作画監督・演出など多岐にわたって活躍。劇場短編『おばあちゃんの思い出』(00)、劇場長編『ドラえもん のび太の恐竜2006』(06)などを監督し、2011年よりフリーに。その後はTVアニメ『宇宙兄弟』(12～14)、『恋は雨上がりのように』(18)など、精力的に監督作を発表。『海獣の子供』(19)では第74回毎日映画コンクールアニメーション映画賞、第23回文化庁メディア芸術祭アニメーション部門大賞を受賞。『漁港の肉子ちゃん』（21）では第46回報知映画賞アニメ作品賞を受賞。現在新作映画鋭意準備中。
Born in 1966, Watanabe joined Studio Mates in 1986 and debuted his first key animation with the same studio. In 1988 he moved to Shinei Videos and was active in a wide range of roles including key animator, animation director, and director. Watanabe directed the short theatrical release Obachan no Omoide (2000), and the feature film Doraemon: Nobitaʼs Dragon 2006 (2006) and became a free agent in 2011. After that time, he tirelessly built up his directing portfolio with projects such as the TV series Mysterious Girlfriend X (2012), Danchi Tomoo (2012-15), If Her Flag Breaks (2014), Space Brothers (2012-14), and Ace Attorney (2016). Three TV series directed by Watanabe aired in 2018, including After the Rain, Gurazeni, and Major 2nd. in 2019, after 5 years of production years, Children of the Sea was presented to the world and was highly acclaimed its overwhelmingly beautiful visual and a profound theme behind. Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko is his fifth time directing a full-length theatrical release.
