Greg Sharp

グレッグ・シャープはシドニー在住、ニュージーランド生まれのアニメーション監督。ウェリントンのマッシー大学で彫刻とビデオ・アートの訓練を受けたのち、映画のVFX業界で大規模なアニメーションのプロジェクションも行った。 2004年以後、グレッグは伝統的なアニメーション技法を学び、2010年にメルボルンでラバーハウス・アニメーションスタジオを共同設立。ゴティエのミュージックビデオを制作したのち、アダルト・スイムやDisney XD 、ニコロデオン、ワーナーブラザーズ、カートゥーン・ネットワークなどのクライアントとも仕事をしている。彼の作品は、しばしば重大なテーマと釣り合わされた無意味なシナリオによって特徴づけられ、コマ撮りからアニメ・スタイルまで手法も幅広く、1940年代〜1990年代の影響が強い。

Greg Sharp is a New Zealand born animation director living in Sydney. Trained in sculpture and video arts at Massey University in Wellington, Greg began his career exhibiting large-scale animated projections and working in the film VFX industry. After a stroke in 2004, Greg trained himself in traditional animation, in 2010 co-founded the award winning Rubber House animation studio in Melbourne, and with a set of music-videos for Gotye began attracting clients such as [adult swim], Disney XD, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network and various commercial outfits. His work is characterized by his nonsensical scenarios counterbalanced with often serious themes, use of wildly varying styles ranging from stop-motion to anime, and influences running 1940 through to 1990.
