SYNOPSIS
「パターン・ランゲージ」は建築家のクリストファー・アレグザンダーが提唱した言葉で、建築環境のパターンを通じてある種の人間の意識的な活動が活性化することを示す言葉である。このアプローチを提唱する者のなかには、一般の人々もこれを活用することで複雑で大きなデザイン的問題をうまく解決できることを主張する。この映画では、高度に組織され豊かにレイヤー化されたパターンが、可聴周波数とリズムに応じて動き、終わりなき変容を行う迷宮を作り出していく。
’Pattern Language’ is a term coined by architect Christopher Alexander to quantify the aliveness of certain human ambitions through an index of structural patterns. Some advocates of this design approach claim that ordinary people can use it to successfully solve very large, complex design problems. In this film, highly organized and richly layered patterns move in accordance with audio frequencies and rhythms, towards the construction of an endlessly mutating labyrinth.

ピーター・バー（1980年生まれ）は、アメリカ・ニューヨーク州ブルックリンのアーティストで、アニメーションとインスタレーションを専門としており、 パリのポンピドゥー・センター、マドリードのレイナソフィア国立博物館、ニューヨークのMoMA PS1をはじめ世界中の会場で作品を発表している。 彼の最近の作品は、無限に変化する死の迷宮という概念の追求で、クリエイティブ・キャピタルとサンダンスの支援によってビデオゲームにも着手している。以前の彼はフーリガンシップという偽名で制作もしており、2006年にはCartune Xprezというビデオレーベルを立ち上げ、実験アニメーションを見せるライブ・マルチメディア展示をプロデュースした。
Peter Burr (b. 1980) is an artist from Brooklyn, NY, USA specializing in animation and installation. His work has been presented at venues across the world including Le Centre Pompidou, Paris; Reina Sofia National Museum, Madrid; and MoMA PS1, New York. His recent work explores the concept of an endlessly mutating death labyrinth and is being expanded into a video game through the support of Creative Capital and Sundance. Previously, he worked under the alias Hooliganship and in 2006 founded the video label Cartune Xprez, through which he produced live multimedia exhibitions showcasing artists working in experimental animation.
