何かにならねばならないといつも皆は言う。「はじめの時期は、何かになるためには重要だ…」だとか。だがそれは、「それを言う人たち」が何かになってほしいということにすぎない。「君」がなりたい何かは、まったくもう、いつだって「気まぐれ」だし「リアリスティックではない」のだ。そのことは神経に障る。本当に障るのだ。ところで、私が何になりたいかわかるか？ もし私に選択肢があるとするなら？ 私はは、アニメーション作家になりたいんだ。アニメーション・アーティストだよ。私が毎日しているのは、それだ。とにかくアニメートしまくっている。狂ってるのはわかってるが、これが私がしたいと思う唯一のことなのだよ。

Everybody’s always telling you you have to "be" something all the time. Like how duringthese early years it is important to start to "be" something. But its gotta be something *they* want you to be. Anything *you* want to be is always a “whim” or “unrealistic” for crissakes. It gets on your nerves. It really does. You know what I’d like to be? I mean if I had my goddam choice? An animator. An animation artist. That’s all I’d do all day. I’d just animate stuff and all. I know it’s crazy, but that’s the only thing I’d really like to be.
