リュウ・ジアン初の長編アニメーション作品である本作は、近年盛り上がりつつある中国インディペンデント・アニメーション界において特筆すべき成果として記憶されている。中国の現実をベースに、コメディやスラップスティック的な要素を混ぜ合わせながら、そこに生活する人々の人生や尊厳について、悲喜劇的に語る本作は、アニメーション史上においても特記すべき作品である。
This film, the first full-length animation work directed by Liu Jiang, is a remarkable achievement in the Chinese independent animation scene, which becomes exciting in recent years. Based on the reality of China and mixing comedy and slapstick elements, this work tells tragically-comedically about the life and dignity of people living in the contemporary Chinese society.
SYNOPSIS
金融危機によって、中国の多くの工場は2008年後半の閉鎖を余儀なくされた。チャン・シャオジュンもまた、靴工場の職を失った。ある日、スーパーマーケットの守衛が、泥棒と勘違いして彼を殴り、チャンはその賠償金を支配人に求める。チャンの切なる願いは、生まれ故郷の村に帰り、そこで農夫になること。しかしその出発の直前、警察は彼を捕まえる。スーパーの支配人もまた問題を抱えている。ある月夜、町の城壁近くの茶屋で、あらゆる物語が混じり合っていく
Due to the financial crisis, many factories in China are forced to close their doors in late 2008. Zhang Xiaojun loses his job in a shoe factory. One day, a supermarket guard beats him up, thinking Zhang is a thief. In vain, he asks the supermarket manager for financial redress. Zhang’s dearest wish is to return to his village and become a farmer. But right before his departure, the police arrest him. The supermarket manager also has his problems. On a moonlit night, the storylines converge in a teahouse near the city rampart.

リュウ・ジアン ( Liu Jian )
リュウ・ジアンは中国風景画を学び、1993年に南京芸術学院を卒業した。20年以上にわたって制作される彼の絵画作品は画材と美学的アプローチの幅広さに特徴があり、中国国内及び海外での展示も行われている。1995年にはアニメーション制作を始め、2007年にはLe-joyアニメーション・スタジオというインディペンデントのスタジオを設立。初の長編Piercing Iはオランダ・アニメーション映画祭でプレミア上映され、アジアやヨーロッパの様々な映画祭で数多くの賞を受賞した。二作目の長編Have A Nice Dayは2017年の第67回ベルリン国際映画祭のメイン・コンペティションでプレミア上映された。
Liu Jian studied Chinese landscape painting and graduated from the Nanjing University of the Arts in 1993. Over the past two decades, his work has drawn on a range of media and aesthetic approaches and has been presented at major exhibitions both in China and abroad. In 1995, he began making works of animation and in 2007 he independently established the Le-joy Animation Studio. His first feature-length animation work, Piercing I, premiered at Holland Animation Film Festival and received numerous prestigious awards at film festivals across Asia and Europe. His second feature-length animation film, Have A Nice Day, was premiered and selected for main competition at 67th Berlin International Film Festival 2017.
