The Wave

SYNOPSIS

韓国では、巨大な力で遠くからやってくる波をモンスター波と呼んでいる。この波はそれほど高さがないため、ほかの波と区別することがとても難しく、防波堤のような障害物に当たったときにだけ、その致命傷を与える力を顕にする。丘のような高さを築くのだ。それゆえに、この波による事故が韓国の長い沿岸域では時々起こる。この作品は、海の力によって引き裂かれた実際の家族の運命を元にしている。

In Korea a wave is called a monster wave when it has come a long way with an enormous power. The wave is not very high, so it's very hard to distinguish it from the others. Only if it crashes an obstacle like a groyne it reveals it's lethal power and can build up to the size of a hill. Therefore accidents happens from time to time on the long coastals of the country. This film is based on the true destiny of a family that was torn apart by the power of the sea.
