SYNOPSIS
メジャーな映画の要素（娯楽的なドラマやドタバタ劇の効果）と、前衛映画やビデオアートの戦略（イメージの形式的・美的な補正、極端なカット編集、音響実験）を組み合わせた作品。観客はこの奇妙な 「ジャンル・ハイブリッド」において、ユーモアと真剣さとの狭間を見いだす必要に駆られるだろう。
DONT KNOW WHAT combines elements of mainstream cinema, like an entertaining dramaturgy or slapstick-like effects with strategies of avant-garde cinema or video art, like formal and aesthetic reduction of the imagery, extrem short-cut technique and sound experiments. The audience is then left to find their way between humor and seriousness in this strange ”genre-hybrid”.

Thomas Renoldner
1960年、リンツ生まれ。絵画、音楽、インスタレーション、パフォーマンスを手がける。16歳で初めてスーパー8のフィルム作品を制作し、1989〜1994年にかけてウィーン応用美術大学でアニメーションを学ぶ。現在はウィーン美術アカデミーのアニメーションラボでリーダーを務めている。多数のアニメーション、実験映像、短編ドキュメンタリー、MVを制作したほか、CM制作や親しいアーティストの映画プロデューサーとしても活躍する。映画プログラムのキュレーターやウィーン短編映画祭アヴァンギャルド・アニメーション・コンペティションの共同キュレーター、ウィーン2デイズアニメーション・フェスティバルのディレクターのほか、複数の国際映画祭でセレクションと審査員を担当している。
Born in Linz in 1960, artist in the areas of drawing, painting, music, installation, performance. First Super-8-films in the age of 16, later studied animation at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna (1989-1994) and is now the Leader of the Animation Lab at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Numerous animated / experimental / documentary short films, music videos and a few commercials, and producer of films of befriended artists. Also curator of film programmes, co-curator of Animation Avantgarde competition at Vienna Shorts Filmfesival and director of the 2 Days Animation Festival in Vienna, Selection and jury member at several internatioal festivals.
