Wei Keong Tan

1984年、シンガポールに生まれる。彼のアニメーションは個人的なストーリーテリングとファンタジーの世界を通して自身のアイデンティティを探求する。多くの場合、写真やコマ撮り、コピーした写真に作画を組み合わせることで、独自のビジュアル世界を生み出す。最新作の『Kingdom』は、2019年のベルリン国際映画祭や、2018年のシンガポール国際映画祭（SGIFF）オープニング・ショートフィルムにも選ばれており、前作の『Between Us Two』は、SGIFF2017で最優秀シンガポール短編映画賞、アウトフェスト・ロサンゼルス 2018で短編ドキュメンタリー審査員賞を受賞した。彼の作品はアヌシー、ザグレブ、エディンバラ、トロント、シュトゥットガルト、ロンドンなど、世界中の名高い映画祭に選出されている。

Tan Wei Keong was born in Singapore in 1984. His animations explore his identity through personal storytelling and fantasy worlds. He often combines photography, frame-by-frame drawings and photocopies, forming the visual world of his animated films. His most recent film, Kingdom, has been selected to compete at the Berlin International Film Festival 2019 and was also the opening short film at Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2018. His previous film, Between Us Two, received the Best Singapore Short Film award at SGIFF 2017 and the Grand Jury Prize Documentary Short at Outfest Los Angeles 2018. His films have been selected at many prestigious film festivals worldwide, including those at Annecy, Zagreb, Edinburgh, Toronto, Stuttgart and London.
