チリ (Chile)

クリストバル・レオン（1980年、チリ生まれ）はアニメーション映画、インスタレーション、絵画、彫刻などで制作を行う。チリ・カトリック大学とベルリン芸術大学で学び、2009年から2011年までアムステルダムのDe Ateliersのレジデンス・プログラムに参加。2007年からホアキン・コシーニャとの共作をスタート。写真、ドローイング、彫刻、パフォーマンスなど様々なテクニックを組み合わせた映画制作を行っている。レオンとコシーニャの作品はこれまで複数の賞を受賞し、国際映画祭で定期的に上映、また、ホワイトチャペル・ギャラリー、グッゲンハイム美術館（ニューヨーク）、クンストヴェルケ現代美術センター（ベルリン）、ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ、アート・バーゼルなど、美術館やビエンナーレでも展示されている。２人による初の長編『The Wolf House』は2018年の第68回ベルリン国際映画祭にてプレミア上映され、カリガリ賞を受賞。レオンは現在サンティアゴを拠点にしている。

Cristóbal León (1980, Chile) works in animation films, installations, paintings and sculptures, among other media. He studied at the Universidad Católica de Chile and UDK - Berlin. Between 2009 and 2011 he participated in the residency program De Ateliers in Amsterdam. Since 2007 he works in collaboration with Joaquín Cociña. For the production of their films they combine different techniques such as photography, drawing, sculpture and performance. León and Cociña have won several awards and their films are regularly selected for international film festivals. Their work has been exhibited in several museums and biennials, among which are Whitechapel Gallery, Guggenheim New York, KW Berlin, the Venice Biennale and Art Basel. They premiered their first feature film "La Casa Lobo" at the 68 Berlinale 2018, where they received the Caligari Award. He lives and works in Santiago de Chile.
