岩崎宏俊 (IWASAKI Hirotoshi)

アーティスト。1981年茨城県生まれ。2019年 東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科先端芸術表現領域博士後期過程 修了。ロトスコープという既成の実写映像をベースにアニメーションを制作する方法に着目し、シュルレアリスムなどの20世紀の前衛芸術運動と比較美術し体系化した独自のロトスコープ論を確立。作品は映画や美術などを越境的に展開し、アニメーションの新しい可能性を探求している。

Born in Japan in 1981. Hirotoshi Iwasaki is video artist using experimental animation, graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts with Doctor’s degree in Fine Arts 2019. His films have been included in internationally renowned festivals, it has been screened in more than 20 countries and more than 30 film festivals. He received Grand Prix non-narrative short at Holland Animation Film Festival 2015 and Grand Prize in Tokyo’s Image Forum Festival 2010. His research theme is about Rotoscoping that is animation technique that animators trace over motion picture footage, frame by frame. Originally, Rotoscoping used to produce realistic action by animators. However, he comparing Rotoscoping with 20th century avant-garde art movement, and he focuses on the differences between realistic movement and drawing, and is dealing with the theme of polysemy of reality.
