初めて審査員に任命され、覚悟をもって臨んだ今回の新千歳。11回目を迎えたこの映画祭で、僕は様々なスタイルを持った、素晴らしい作品達に出会った。そこには、ハッとするビジュアルイメージがあった。卓越したテクニックがあった。今向き合わねばならない現代的なテーマがあった。そしてなにより、皆情熱に溢れキラキラと輝き眩しかった……！ 悩みに悩み抜いた末、僕の審査員特別賞は、原点に立ち返り純粋に自分の好みで作品を選んだ。クールでスタイリッシュ、シンプルな画面構成。好きだ。完全に僕が好きな世界だ。あの光の洪水に、僕はずっとトリップしていたいと思った。
This was my first time being named a jury member, so I went excited and prepared to enjoy the 11th New Chitose Film Festival. It didn't disappoint. I was treated to wonderful works made in a wide variety of styles, and visual images that made my heart skip a beat. I marveled at the technique and artistry, and reflected on contemporary themes that demand our full attention. Above all, I experience works full of passion; that sparkled and dazzled. And then, after much difficult deliberation, I made my jury prize selection by going with my gut and choosing my personal favorite; a work that was cool, stylish and simple in its composition. I loved it. It was my kind of world completely, and I wanted to remain in its flood of light forever.
