SYNOPSIS
ステファヌ・ベルラの『Rapper’s Delight』はヒップポップの50周年を祝う作品。ニューヨークのストリートで生まれ、広く受け入れられて主流の人気ジャンルとなるまでの道程へのオマージュだ。象徴的な曲「Rapper’s Delight」を背景に使い、ステファヌの語りでシュガーヒル・ギャングの発展とヒップホップ文化の拡大を追ってゆく。
Stéphane’s contribution «Rappers’ Delight» celebrates the 50th anniversary of hip hop. The film serves as a tribute to the genre’s journey from the streets of New York to widespread mainstream popularity. Using the iconic «Rapper’s Delight» track as a backdrop, Stéphane’s narrative follows the development of the Sugarhill Gang and the expansion of hip hop culture.

パリ映像高等専門学校（ESRA）で映画を学んだ後、ステファヌはグラフィック・デザイナーとしてスタートし、次にアート・ディレクターとしてキャリアを積み、一方で短編映画や、やがて初のCM、ミュージック・ビデオを作った。2013年に初のアニメーション長編映画『ジャック＆クロックハート 鳩時計の心臓をもつ少年』をマチアス・マルジウと共同監督。あらゆるタイプの映像実験に熱心なステファヌは、さまざまなアニメーション・テクニックを組み合わせるのを好む。現在は、長年の仕事仲間のマチアス・マルジウと組んで、ユービーアイソフトのSFパペット・アニメーション・シリーズと、新作アニメーション長編映画『Dans la Lune』を制作中だ。
After studying cinema at ESRA, Stéphane began his career as a graphic designer and then as an art director while continuing to make his short films and later his first commercials and music videos. Stéphane Berla co-directed in 2014 'Jack et la Mécanique du Coeur', his first animated feature film with Mathias Malzieu. Keen on visual experimentation of all kinds, Stéphane likes to combine different animation techniques. He is currently developing a sci-fi puppet animation series for Ubisoft as well as a new animated feature film 'Dans la Lune', in collaboration with his long-time colleague, Mathias Malzieu.
