When I Fall Asleep, My Dream Comes
SYNOPSIS
今作は夢と多様な現実からクリエイティブな着想を得ている。１フレーム１フレームを手描きする手法を用いた水墨画のアニメーションで、作り上げるのに2年の歳月と数万枚のスケッチを要した。観客は夢と現実が交わるところへと招かれ、ぼんやりとした物悲しい霧雨のような江南地方の古い家々に浸る。約５分の水墨画アニメーション『When I Fall Asleep, My Dream Comes』は、憂鬱な状態に自らを閉じ込めた夢の果てしないループを描く。
The work draws creative inspiration from dreams and multiple realities. The production of the ink and wash animation employs frame-by-frame hand-drawing techniques, taking two years and involving tens of thousands of sketches. It invites the audience to enter the intersection of dreams and reality, immersing themselves in the misty, sorrowful drizzle of old houses in the Jiangnan region. The approximately 5-minute ink and wash animation, ”When I Fell Asleep, the Dream Came,” portrays an endless loop of dreams that shackle oneself in a state of melancholy.

Yi Liu
1990年中国寧波生まれ。2012年に中国美術学院インターメディアアート科学士課程を、2016年に中国美術学院修士課程をそれぞれ卒業。現在、杭州在住。「中国初期の芸術映画と実験的アニメーション」を主な研究テーマとしている。彼女はアニメーション、マルチメディア、空間インスタレーションなど様々な手段を使って自身の日常生活での体験を再現し、作品の主題と共鳴する空間でさらなる可能性を見つけ出す。
Liu Yi was born in 1990 in Ningbo, China. She graduated from the China Academy of Fine Arts School of Intermedia Art with Bachelor‘s degree and the China Academy of Fine Arts with Master’s degree in 2012 and 2016, respectively. Currently she lives in Hangzhou. “Early Chinese art films and experimental animation” is her primary research direction. She deploys various mediums through animation, multi-media as well as space installation to reflect her daily living experience and discovers more possibilities in a space resonating with the subject of her works.
