SYNOPSIS
ワックスと紙だけを使用した実験的断面アニメーション。オスカー・フィッシンガーが1920年代に発表したワックスを用いた草分け的な実験作品に着想を得る。監督が大学院での研究で、創造的な探求を突き詰めた結果生まれた作品。その製作過程では、まず、液体ワックスから始めて固体の彫刻を形づくる。そして、彫刻を体系的に分断して新たな息を吹き込む。それで誕生したクローズアップ度の高いマクロ映像に、素材の複雑なディテールと触感、そして動きを強調する音風景を加えてアニメーションとして完成させた。
States of Matter is an experimental strata-cut animation crafted entirely from wax and paper. Drawing inspiration from Oskar Fischinger's pioneering wax experiments of the 1920s, the film emerged from the director's creative explorations during his postgraduate studies. In the process, solid sculptures were shaped from liquid wax, only to be systematically broken down and reanimated. The resulting highly magnified macro animations are complemented by a tactile soundscape highlighting the materials' intricate details, textures, and movements.

Marvin HAUCK
マーヴィンは現在、自らを実験的アニメーション作家と称する。香港での学部課程（クリエイティブメディア研究）に影響と刺激を受け、オランダでアニメーションの修士号を取得したばかりである。在学中はストラタカット・アニメーションの領域を探求し、その可能性を拡張することに注力した。
Marvin currently calls himself an experimental animator. Influenced and inspired during his undergraduate creative media studies in Hong Kong, he pursued a master’s degree in animation in the Netherlands, where he recently graduated. During this, he focused on exploring and expanding the field of strata-cut animation.
