“Animation Focus: Hokkaido” is a special screening program featuring the latest animated works by artists from or based in Hokkaido. Held every year since the festival was founded in 2014, this program, which has long been an important part of the festival, celebrates its 10th edition this year.
The selected works span a wide range of approaches, from comedy and poetic hand-drawn animation to live-action films that make effective use of animation. Featuring both emerging artists and established professionals, this program highlights Hokkaido animation from 2022–2023 selected by the festival. Short interviews with filmmakers will follow the screening.
