Brain Wave
SYNOPSIS
7ヵ月かけて制作された、白黒インクのみを使用した手描きアニメーション。1,440回、白黒の絵を描き、そのたびにスキャンを行った。音楽もまた、作家によって制作されている。
Jake Fried spent seven months creating Brain Wave, a hand-drawn animation using only ink and white-out. Fried reworked the same black-and-white drawing 1,440 times, scanning each new iteration. Sound design by the artist.

Jake Fried
1984年生まれ。アーティストとしての経歴を画家から始めるが、イメージを重ねたり改変したりする過程を経るにつれ、自分の本当の関心は絵を描く工程でイメージが変容することにあるのだと気付き、アニメーターとなる道を進む。彼の実験的な作品は、テート・モダンやサンダンス映画祭などで国際的に幅広く上映されている。アダルトスイムやNetflix、ハーレーダビッドソンを含むクライアントワークを製作。現在はボストンのマサチューセッツ芸術大学でアニメーションを教えている。
Jake Fried (b.1984) began his artistic career as a painter, but as he went through the process of layering and modifying images, he realized what truly interested him was the way the images metamorphosed in the course of making a painting and he changed tracks to become an animator. His experimental films have been widely shown internationally, including at the Tate Modern and Sundance Film Festival. He has created commissioned work for clients including Adult Swim, Netflix and Harley-Davidson. He currently teaches animation at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston.
