SYNOPSIS
人は自分ではない存在に祈ったり、頼ったり、捧げたりすることで自らを豊かにしようとする。それと同じように怪物のような自分にとって未知でコントロールできない「例外」の存在は私たちを豊かにしてくれるのだろうか。
We try to enrich ourselves through prayer, faith and devotion to someone or something ‘other’. Similarly, we believe in the existence of ‘anomalies’, such as unknowable and uncontrollable monsters. But can such beliefs advance us?

大阪教育大学、イメージフォーラム付属映像研究所、東京藝術大学大学院で映像を学ぶ。『鼻の日』（05）がノーウィッチ国際アニメーション映画祭短編部門でグランプリ、『そういう眼鏡』（07）がリオ・デ・ジャネイロ国際短編映画祭で最優秀若手審査員賞を受賞。『わからないブタ』（10）がザグレブ、アヌシー、広島、オタワの四大国際アニメーション映画祭にノミネートし、ファントーシュ国際アニメーション映画祭でBest film、文化庁メディア芸術祭で優秀賞等国内外の映画祭で受賞。『春のしくみ』（10）がベネチア映画祭オリゾンティ部門で上映され、『グレートラビット』（12）がベルリン国際映画祭短編部門で銀熊賞を受賞する。
Atsushi Wada studied film at Osaka Kyoiku University, the Image Forum Institute of Moving Images and the Graduate School of Tokyo University of the Arts. His film Hana no Hi (Day of the Nose) (2005) won Best Short Film at the Norwich International Animation Festival, and Souiu Megane (That’s Glasses) (2007) won the Jury’s Award for Best Young Artist at the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival. Wakaranai Buta (In a Pig’s Eye) (2010) was nominated at the four major international animation festivals in Zagreb, Annecy, Ottawa and Hiroshima. It won Best Film at the Fantoche International Animation Film Festival, and the Excellence Award at the Japan Media Arts Festival, in addition to awards at other film festivals in Japan and elsewhere. Haru no Shikumi (the Mechanism of Spring) (2010) was shown in the Orizzonti category of the Venice Film Festival, and the Great Rabbit (2012) won the Silver Bear award for short films at the Berlin International Film Festival.
