Psychedelic experience referring aesthetically and thematically to the best traditions of science fiction, taking viewers' minds into a journey passing through different planets, virtual realities, microcosmos and macrocosmos. Past, future and alternative presents, depths of human and inhuman memories, dreams, consciousness and unconsciousness. It's a trip where you never know what's behind the corner, bending visible dimensions, expanding your mind to think in terms of light years, thoughts as tiny as subatomic particles and as humongous as galaxies. Film that tries to contact something truly alien and unknown. Film that goes above and beyond.

「目」の見たものが神経を伝わり脳内に世界の像を形作るーー外界を知覚するそのプロセスが、線のアニメーションの悦楽とともに描かれたような印象でした。シーツを押すような手が向こう側に触れようとする様子もその印象を補完します。残像と記憶、意識と無意識、自と他の境を鮮やかに行き来しながら、世界はあらかじめそこにあるのではなく、知覚する者によってはじめて姿を現すということを改めて思わせました。多くの人々に共有されうるフレッシュな視野を、洗練された表現で伝えてくれる作品です。

What the "eye" sees travels through the nerves and forms an image of the world in the brain-- it was as if the process of perceiving the external world was portrayed with the pleasure of line animation. The impression was further complemented by the sensation of hands, like pushing sheets, trying to touch what's on the other side. Vividly traversing between afterimages and memories, consciousness and the subconscious, and the boundaries of self and other, the film reminded me that the world doesn't inherently exist but rather takes form through the perception of the observer. It's a work that conveys a fresh perspective that can be shared with many through sophisticated expression.

扱い方によっては遠い世界の出来事に感じてしまうような重いテーマを等身大の語り口で表現し、軽快にテンポよく展開していくシーンそれぞれに、アニメーションでしか表現できないアイデアが詰め込まれている。
個人のプライベートな体験が、年齢も国籍も思想も飛び越えて感覚的に伝わるのではないかと思われる非常に上質な作品。

This work takes a heavy theme that could feel distant and portrays it in a relatable narrative style. It unfolds with a lively pace, and in each scene, there are ideas that can only be expressed through animation. It's a very high-quality piece where personal private experiences could be conveyed sensually, transcending age, nationality, and ideology.

ミニマルで生なアプローチでありながら、同時に高度な技術を駆使し、細部まで描き込まれた豊かな映像は、大きな集団のダイナミクス、群衆と個人の意識という主題に触れています。共有された社会的および歴史的な出来事に対する私たちの認識に疑問を投げかけ、メディアと文化的語りがいかに私たちの注意や共感を導いているかを示しています。現在の世界の出来事の中で、この作品は私たちに問いかけます：私たちは共感と焦点を正しい場所と方向に置いているだろうか？建物は痛みを感じることができるのだろうか？

Film in its minimalistic and raw approach using at the same time technologically advanced and rich in detailed imagery, touches on the topics of large group dynamics, consciousness of the crowd and individual at the same time. Questions our perception of shared social and historical events, shows how media and cultural narrations are leading our attention and compassion. During current world events it asks us questions : do we put our empathy and focus in the right places and directions? Can the building feel pain?

歴史的背景が不穏な状況を、一つの家族に起きる短い時間の出来事に凝縮。キャラクターの描き方は勿論、人物の関係性や物質の扱い方に至るまで、信じられない高いレベルのクオリティで、そこはかとない恐怖をシンプルなストーリーの中に封じ込めることに見事に成功している。

It condenses the unsettling historical backdrop into a brief moment in the life of one family. From the character development to the dynamics between the characters and the treatment of materials, it achieves a remarkably high level of quality. It masterfully encapsulates a subtle sense of fear within a simple storyline.

本作品の受賞理由は、（私の涙腺を崩壊させたからでは決してなく、）その徹底したユートピア的描写にあります。動物や植物と共生する情景はもちろんのこと、災害や死といった究極の喪失を乗り越え、人生における価値をその人なりに見出す過程が、溢れる色彩・動きとエピソードで豊かに描き出され、忘れがたい鑑賞体験をもたらしました。世界が分断と気候変動に直面する現在において、力強いメッセージとして機能する可能性を持っています。その意味で、地域や年代を問わず、より多くの方に観ていただきたい作品です。

The reason for the award of this work, is never because it broke my tear glands, but lies in its thorough utopian depiction. It goes beyond scenes of coexistence with animals and plants, and portrays the process of overcoming ultimate losses such as disasters and death to find one's own value in life. It does so with rich colors, movement, and episodes, delivering an unforgettable viewing experience. In the current world, facing division and climate change, it has the potential to function as a powerful message. In this sense, it is a work that we hope will be seen by a wider audience, regardless of region or age.

この圧倒的な物語は、むき出しの感情を通じて、純粋かつ誠実な方法で私たち内なる子供に触れ、鋭い不条理感と風刺のセンスによって、人間関係や家族の葛藤を超越します。コミュニティが適切な時と場所に一堂に会する、驚きと喜びに満ちた傑作です。

This overwhelming story touched the inner child inside us through the bare emotions in a pure and honest way, transcending human and family conflicts with a sharp sense of absurdity and satire. For a masterpiece full of surprises and joy, where the community comes together at the right time in the right place.

This film successfully transposes to an emotional state of mind that reminds us of our teenage period, using a minimal and ingenious graphic design and animation.

皺、奇妙なズレ、安定しないことと歪むこと。それは天にもの乗らせ、地にも落とす。ある恋は始まり、共に狂う人が離れていく絶望、そしてまた次なるいびつなダンスが始まる。恋に狂ってなにが悪い。妙なズレと心地に心躍るを踊らせた作品です。

"Wrinkles, strange displacements, unsteadiness and distortion. It makes the heavens ride on it and brings it down to earth. One love begins, the despair of those who are madly in love with each other leaves, and the next snarling dance begins again. What is wrong with being madly in love?

この癖のある皮肉たっぷりの作品は、シンプルなスタイルで、常に変化し続ける体を持ち、恥ずかしい瞬間や仲間からのプレッシャーにさらされる思春期の気まずさを完璧に表現しています。次に公共プールに行くときには、これらのキャラクターを探したくなります。

This quirky, ironic film, with a simple style, perfectly evokes the awkwardness of being an adolescent in a constantly changing body with all its embarrassing moments and peer pressures. It makes us want to look for these characters next time we are at a public pool.

ストップモーションアニメーションの高い技術力。素材の特性を活かした造形と殺陣。そして、「王道」の物語。見慣れた素材にこれほど心を掴まれるとは。アニメーションが描きうる時代劇の新たな可能性を拓く長編版も心待ちにしています。

Impressive technical prowess in stop-motion animation, the use of materials for sculpting and theatrical combat, and a 'classic' narrative. It's truly surprising to be so captivated by familiar materials. We look forward to a feature-length version that paves new possibilities for period dramas that animation can depict.

守旧的で、いっけん反自由的な同質的集団であっても、じつはみな、抜け目なく欲望を満たしているという、意外性のあるストーリーテリングに膝を打ちました。じつにチャーミングなコメディであり、それだけではなく、同時代的なソーシャルメッセージも含む意欲作です。

*"Minister for Foreign Affairs Award" is given to an allegorical work of excellence that reflects the state of modern society among the works selected for the International Competition.

We were captivated by the unexpected storytelling of a conservative and seemingly anti-freedom homogeneous groups who are actually all shrewdly fulfilling their desires. It's not only a charming comedy but also an ambitious work that carries a contemporary social message.

※観光庁長官賞は、インターナショナルコンペティション入選作品で、こどもを含む青年から広く対象とした中のうち、普遍的な表現の中でも光る現代性を感じる作品に授与します。

恐らくは複雑であろうキャラクターの背景を多くは語らず、そしてなぜ彼らの心は動いたのか。どこをとっても一枚の絵として呆れるほど美しい本作に爽快に引き込まれ、この上ない共鳴がもたらされました。

*Japan Tourism Agency Commissioner Award"" is given to a work selected for the International Competition that is aimed at a wide range of audience, including young children, and which shows a sense of modernity that shines through in its universal expression.

Revealing little about the likely complex backgrounds of the characters and why their hearts were moved, this work captivated us with its stunning, almost breathtaking beauty as a picture in every aspect. It drew us in exhilaratingly, and an unparalleled resonance was evoked.

実在の姿は見えず、先に声が聞こえてくる。個性をエモーショナルにまとったアニメーションが踊っている。人の手による制作過程も見せた巧みな構成で、音楽作品としても秀逸。光が反射する雪のきらめきごと幸せな余韻をもたらします。

We hear the voices before we see the real figures. The animation, emotionally wrapped in individuality, dances. With a skillful composition that reveals the hands of humans involved in the production process, it stands out as a musical piece as well. The sparkle of the snow reflecting light leaves a happy afterglow.

大切な家族との別れの記憶を、まるで年輪のように積み重なる残像によって表現する創意工夫に感心しました。切なくも前向きな気持ちにさせてくれる作品です。

We were impressed by the creative use of accumulating afterimages like tree rings, portraying the memories of parting with a cherished family member. It's a work that evokes a sense of melancholy and positivity at the same time.

この民謡の特徴的な曲節や叙情性が、シンプルなパターンとタイポグラフィのみで見事に表現されています。極限まで削ぎ落とした設計に、アニメーションの真髄が宿っています。

The distinctive melody and lyricism of this folk song are beautifully expressed through simple patterns and typography alone. The essence of animation is encapsulated in this design stripped down to its very core.

題材にたいしてこれ以上なく適切な素材および手法の選択に感服しました。シリアスなテーマを扱いながらも語り口はじつに軽妙で、それがかえって、作中で描かれていることは作者にとって日常にすぎないことを印象づけます。

We were impressed by the choice of materials and techniques that couldn't be more suitable for the subject matter. While dealing with a serious theme, the storytelling is remarkably light-hearted, emphasizing that what's portrayed in the film is simply a part of everyday life.

ショービジネスにたいする痛烈な風刺にとどまらず、裏腹な愛着にかんする鋭い洞察をも含む本作。題材にたいする絶妙な距離感に、作者のすぐれたバランス感覚とたしかな洞察力を感じました。

This work goes beyond sharp satire of the show business and includes keen insights into the contradictory affection. The exquisite balance and strong insight of the author were evident in the unique distance maintained toward the subject matter.

Twitterでtweetする形式で始まった本AWARDは、気がついたらXでpostする形式に変わってしまった。SNSの移ろいにオンタイムで反応していくことになったわけだが、まさにこの日々変化し、タイムラインに流れていく膨大な情報の中でつい手をとめてしまう映像であるかどうかが審査のポイントのひとつとなった。もちろん単純に目を引くだけでなく、作品時間は適切か、なぜループするのか(しないのか)、コンセプトが充実しているか、実験的な姿勢を有しているかなど総合的に判断する姿勢が短編部門の労力との差分として本AWARDが持つ意義であったと思う。この点に関して、審査員全員から高く評価されたのが大橋さんの一連の投稿作品であった。受賞作となった『花と隣人』は、一見するとシンプルだが、視点や遠近によって、花、ガラスの花瓶、花瓶を通してみえる机のラインなどの各モチーフの見え方の変化が非常に繊細に表現されていた。また、遠近の変化をBLOW-UPと捉えると、写真、窓、絵画、解像度などまで含むメタファーとして考えることも可能である点など、繰り返される運動に最もコンセプトがあり、グランプリに相当すると判断した。

Starting out as tweets on Twitter, and then posts on X, this award sifts through vast amounts of information flowing through our timelines and recognizes the images that make us stop in our tracks. As part of our assessment, we also consider whether the duration of the film is appropriate, why the film has a looping format (or not), whether there is a fully developed concept, an experimental approach, etc. This comprehensive evaluation is what distinguishes this award from the Short Film Category and gives it other meaning. In this regard, Mr. Ohashi’s submission was evaluated highly by all the judges. At first glance, the award-winning work “The Flower and the Neighbor” may seem simplistic, but in fact, it offers an impressive array of viewpoints and perspectives of each motif. For example, the flowers, the glass vase, the line of the desk as seen through the vase, were expressed with great delicacy. When changes in perspectives are captured as BLOW-UPs, a photograph, a window, a painting and even the applied resolution can be considered a metaphor. We found his repetitive motions to be the most conceptual and deserving of the Grand Prix.

審査員特別賞の選定は、どの作品も甲乙つけがたく、全ての応募作品を何度も繰り返し確認いたしました。その中で、本作品を繰り返し眺めていると、乾いたエネルギー、快感と覚醒と緊張が折り混ざったような、SF作品を見ているかのような感覚に支配されていきます。 いつまでもフレッシュな印象を感じさせてくれることに、魅了されました。 カラッとしたエロスが、ポップに表現されていて笑ってしまいました。 また、小さな人のブーツの色の違いや、背景ブルーの色味の違いなど細部へのこだわり。色数・線数を絞ることで、より大きなインパクトを与える大胆なグラフィクスの提案。どのシーンを切り取ってもクオリティーが高く、審査員特別賞に選ばせていただきました。おめでとうございます！

Selecting a film for the Special Jury Award from the many entries was a very difficult task and we watched all of them several times. While repeatedly watching this work, I experienced a feeling of raw energy, a mixture of pleasure, arousal and tension, as if watching a science-fiction movie. I was captivated by the unrelenting freshness and novelty of the work and the pop expression of candid eroticism made me laugh. Also notable was the attention to detail, such as the different colors of the little people’s boots and the various tones of blue in the background. It was a bold graphic concept to create a bigger impact by limiting the number of colors and lines. The high quality of each and every scene merited the Special Jury Award. Congratulations!

モノクローム調の世界のなかで静かに水桶の水面が揺らいでいる。水桶と水道の蛇口のリアリティのある描写スタイルに比べると、水面の描写は少しラフにも見えるが、その揺らぎには確かな説得力がある。また、光の反射が水桶にも描かれており、作者の丁寧な観察眼も窺える。個人的に特に評価した点は、鏡のように反射する水面に映る鏡像としての顔が、キャラクタライズされた虚像でもある点だ。水面の揺らぎによってはっきりと像を結ばず、実と虚が静かに宙吊りになり続けている。 本映画祭は、映画祭と冠しているものの、「映画」限らずさまざまなアニメーションの表現や動向をキャッチすべく門扉を開いている。まさに本AWARDに即した作家として、長江さんの今後の活躍に期待したい。

Water in a bucket ripples quietly in a monochromatic world. In contrast to the realistic depiction of the bucket and faucet, the water’s surface appears a bit raw, but its movement evokes a certain persuasive power. The artist’s careful observation is evident in the light reflected on the water bucket’s surface. What I personally appreciated was the characterized image of the face reflected in the mirror-like surface of the water. The movement of the water distorted the image, causing the real and imaginary to be perpetually suspended. While called a “film festival”, this event is not limited to film. Its doors are open to a wide range of expression, including anime and other popular mediums. We look forward to seeing more from Mr. Nagae as an artist who truly embodies the spirit of this award.

原形質性の変化を繰り返すこのアニメーション作品には意識に固定され易い形状の「着地点」を留めたフレームらしきものが存在せず、それが軽妙なサウンドの効果と相まって短いループであるにも関わらず無限の時空間で未知のものと相対するような神秘的な鑑賞感を与えてくれる。 瑞々しい程の張力を伴って表現された鮮やかな色彩のそれは時間の流れを形態に取り入れた新種の生命体のようであり、理由だらけの煩雑な世界から私達を解き放って無為の宇宙へと連れ去る神性を見るようでもある。 ソーシャルタイムラインに現れた瞬間にイーサネットケーブルを引っこ抜いてずっと見ていたくなる、素晴らしく恐ろしいまでにゆるくてかわいい本作の研ぎ澄まされた独創性に心からの審査員特別賞を贈りたい。

This work of animation repeatedly changes its DNA. It has no frame-like structure or “landing point” that anchors our consciousness. Combined with the witty use of sound, it creates an almost spiritual experience akin to encountering the unknown in an infinite time-space continuum, despite it being a short loop. Vivid colors expressed with youthful tension suggest a new life form that has given shape to the flow of time. It’s like coming face-to-face with a divinity that frees us from this cumbersome, rational world and whisks us away to a universe of nothingness. The moment it appears on our social timeline, we want to unplug our Ethernet cables and watch it forever. We’d like to present a heartfelt Special Jury Award to the keen originality of this wonderful and frighteningly laid-back, adorable film.
